Privacy Policy

How we handle your information, in plain terms. Last updated August 2026.

RAW Arabia publishes journalism about the marketing and advertising industry in the MENA region, and operates from the United Arab Emirates. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

You can read everything on this site without giving us anything. We only collect information when you choose to give it to us, and only in these situations.

Newsletter sign-up

If you subscribe through the form in our footer, the podcast sidebar, or the sign-up panel on an episode page, we store your email address and the date you subscribed. We use it to send you our newsletter and updates about new episodes. Nothing else.

Downloading a resource

Some downloads in our Resources library ask for an email address and phone number before the file is released. We store those, along with which resource was downloaded, the date, and the IP address the request came from. Providing these details also adds you to our mailing list, which is stated on the download form itself.

We ask for this because the material is free and this is the exchange: you get the file, we get to know who finds our work useful. If you would rather not share those details, don't complete the form — nothing else on the site is affected.

Applying to write for us

If you apply through Write for Us, we store your name, email address, biography and pitch so our editors can review it. If we approve your application we create an account for you so you can submit columns, which means we keep your name and email for as long as that account exists.

Contacting us

Our contact page lists an email address rather than a form. If you email us, we hold that correspondence in our mailbox in the ordinary way.

Cookies and embedded content

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own, and it does not require a cookie to browse.

Podcast pages embed players from Spotify and YouTube. When one of those players loads, the provider can set its own cookies and see that you visited the page, under their privacy policies rather than ours. If that concerns you, blocking third-party cookies in your browser prevents it, and the rest of the site works normally.

Where we have enabled analytics, they measure aggregate traffic — which pages are read, how people arrive — not individuals.

What we don't do

How long we keep it

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Download records are kept while they remain useful for understanding what our readers need. Applications to write for us are kept for the review process and, if approved, for the life of your contributor account. You can ask us to delete any of it sooner.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any newsletter, or by emailing us. You can also ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. Write to hello@rawarabia.me and we will deal with it.

We operate from the United Arab Emirates and handle personal information in line with UAE data protection law. If you are reading from elsewhere, you may have additional rights under your own local law, and nothing here limits them.

Security

We keep the information we hold on access-controlled systems and limit it to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we don't claim otherwise, but we don't collect payment details or sensitive personal data at all — which is the simplest protection there is.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or why, we will update this page and the date at the top. We won't quietly start using information you gave us for something you didn't agree to.

Getting in touch

Questions about any of this go to hello@rawarabia.me.
